Author Yellow Pages - Search by genre or author's last name; biographies can be brief and it appears that only authors who are published by Harper Collins are listed.  Still, a site worth looking at.

Biography Resource Center -  contains more than 422,000 biographies on more than 335,000 people and full-text articles from nearly 300 magazines; search by occupation, nationality, gender, etc.
 * This site is also available from home for all students with a public library card!

Bookreporter.com - A to Z listing of author biographies.  Adult authors are included, but still a site worth looking at.

Children's Book Council - Extensive alphabetical listing of author and illustrator websites.
